Memoir book club questions

Memoirs invite a different kind of conversation. The main character is a real person, the story is shaped by memory, and readers often feel strongly about the author. BookClubDeck includes questions about honesty, how the story is ordered, the people around the author and whether you agree with what they learned.

Saved you some time? Leave a tip, entirely optional.

Type the author’s name and the questions use it, which makes the printed sheet feel written for your book.

How to use the question generator

Enter the book title and, if you like, the author and main character. Choose the genre and how many questions you need, then press Deal new questions. BookClubDeck picks questions from each category in turn so the sheet has variety, and orders them the way a good discussion flows: an icebreaker first, then characters and plot, themes and setting, writing style, the ending, a personal connection and a wrap-up.

Pin any question you want to keep and deal again to replace the rest, or press Swap on a single question to get another from the same category. Add your own questions at the bottom. Print sheet gives a clean page with space to jot notes; Copy sheet puts the numbered list on your clipboard for a group chat or email.

Tips for leading a great discussion

You do not need to get through every question. Pick the three or four you are most curious about and let the conversation wander. Ask follow-ups like why, or where in the book did you see that. Invite quieter members by name with easy questions, and when someone disagrees, that is usually the best part of the evening. Keep the ending questions until everyone has finished the book.

    Private by design

BookClubDeck has no accounts and no server-side processing. The question bank is built into the page, and your book details stay in this browser, saved in local storage on this device only.

    Frequently asked questions

Is it fair to judge the author in a memoir?

Discussing their choices is natural. A good question is how honest the author seems about their own mistakes.

    Does it work for biographies?

Yes, though some questions assume the author is the subject. Swap any that do not fit.

    What about essay collections?

Choose Nonfiction or Any book for a broader set.

    Is BookClubDeck free?

Yes. Dealing, personalizing, copying and printing questions is free with no sign-up.

Is anything I type stored online?

No. Your book details and questions are saved only in this browser on this device.
